DANIEL-ION MIROIU runs the collection from Strada Libertății in Alexandria, on the Teleorman plain, where the working week is long and a wardrobe has to survive it. The rail holds five skirts — animal print with a lace hem, a belted A-line, brown plaid, a floral mini and a red lace-hem maxi — and three hooded cable knits to wear over them from October onwards. Waistbands are interfaced and worn for a full working day before approval, so a plaid sits level at the hip instead of turning on the waist. Oxblood, stone and bone keep the print and the cable from competing with each other.
Cable is a structural decision
A cable pattern changes how a panel pulls at the shoulder and where a knit wants to sit at the hem, so it is drawn for the garment rather than applied to it afterwards. We knit the sample, wash it, and compare the rib height before and after, because a hooded sweater that lengthens in the wash loses the waistline it was cut for. Hems are knitted in a tighter gauge and stress-tested so a cuff does not turn into a bell after a month of wear, hood linings are cut from the same yarn as the body so the weight sits evenly at the neck, and every piece is checked flat on the finishing table one at a time.
